Projects

40 years of Educational Experience

For 40 years, DiGeronimo Architects has delivered education projects for Early Childhood, K-12, Higher Education and Training Facilities. We work with public and private clients to best serve students' needs.

K-12

New York City School Construction Authority (NYC SCA)

We have built a successful working relationship with the NYC SCA, completing multiple projects for the agency since the year 2000. Our work in 70 schools includes various Capital Improvements Projects and code compliance contracts.

Marist High School, Bayonne, NJ

Our design for new 3,500 square foot library/media center for Marist High School included an existing 3,000 square foot space plus a 500 square foot addition. The new design features a large bay window which opens the library/media center up to natural light.

Woodland Elementary School

This addition of 31,000 square feet doubles the size of Woodland Elementary School, serving 500 students. Our work includes renovation of the existing building.

As Prime Architect, we designed the new wing to connect the arms of the existing Y-shaped building to form a triangle, creating an inner courtyard and circulation loop.  The loop reduces the travel path to shared spaces—gymnasium, cafeteria and auditorium—located at the triangle’s three intersection points.

Specifications for low v.o.c. finishes, flooring materials with recycled content and demolition debris recycling were developed to meet sustainable building goals.

Higher Education

Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ

We laid the design foundation for a new $12.5 million athletic facility for Stevens Institute of Technology.  The program includes a new multi-purpose gymnasium, aquatic center, and wrestling room, bringing Stevens' athletic and recreation amenities up to date.

Training Facilities

Aviation Boatswain School, Lakehurst, NJ

We renovated classroom space used by the Navy to train personnel to operate and maintain aircraft carrier catapult and catching equipment, fire trucks and rescue apparatus.

Our work included programming space needs, establishing building codes and equipment requirements. Our design encompasses new classroom layouts, mechanical systems and code upgrades.

Early Childhood

New Jersey School Construction Corporation (NJSCC) Jersey City, NJ

We studied alternative design solutions for elementary school and early childhood center additions and renovations.

Each design maximizes natural light and fresh air flow to classroom spaces by opening up central courtyard spaces and pulling additions away from existing buildings. These open spaces also serve as protected, outdoor play areas.
