City of Passaic
330 Passaic Street
Passaic, NJ 07055
Designed in keeping with the Housing and Urban Development Commission (HUD) philosophy, the DiGeronimo PC design for the Chestnut Street Housing Project responded to the severe need for low income housing in New Jersey. DiGeronimo PC designed and completed this $3.5 million project in 1985 for the Passaic Housing Authority under a grant from HUD. The project conforms to Federal HUD regulations. This type of funding allows a decrease in costs which are passed on to builders and contractors thereby providing reasonably priced housing with low operating costs at a location where the necessary conveniences are available such as public transportation, shopping and other related services.
Talking into consideration the density of Center City, DiGeronimo PC completed the planning design for this complex. Structural design was completed by DiGeronimo PC in-house Structural Engineers. DiGeronimo PC architectural design employed a simple material vocabulary and repetitive detailing.
